“One day Sir Launcelot, set forth in search of adventure. |
Launcelot became bored with everything and decided he wanted to go out and
search for adventure in the world. |
When I was younger I used to go outside and “investigate”, as I
would call it. I was interested in everything.
Like
Launcelot I became bored with my usual surroundings and wanted some adventure
or excitement. My friend and I would usually go out as far as the boundaries our parents set for us would let us go. We’d
“investigate” the surroundings and until we found something interesting or something that would take us on an
adventure we wouldn’t go back inside. That’s usually how we thought of all our games. |
In the classical tale of Pocahontas,
John Smith and his men ventured into a whole new world, seeking adventure, among other things. Like Launcelot, John
Smith became board with his old surroundings and wanted news ones. He sought
out a whole new world with new challenges. There were many adventures in store
for him in the New World,
with him falling in love with another woman of a different kind and other hardships.
The two tales match up in numerous ways this only being one of them. |
